SIMPLYREAD
SimplyRead is a library based in Pune.
They needed a way to manage their members, assets, and expenses, along with reports and staff.
To do this, I created a lean and fast library management system using NextJS. All the functionality included in this was made specifically for them, and was built to efficiently manage and automate various library operations.

An ERP-like system was made to manage patrons.
  • Patron Details
  • Search
  • Lending
  • Footfall
Staff has the ability to sign new members up, renew subscriptions, record footfall, and many other miscellenious operations like issue deliveries and addons.
Admins can monitor actions taken by the staff, as well as track all transactions and expenses recorded by staff. Detailed reports are also generated for analysis.

Evolution of application Schema.
  • High Level Overview
  • Patrons, Transactions, and Subscriptions
  • Addons, Footfalls and Deliveries
We toyed with the idea of having a completely local server stack, as the system would only be accessed internally, but eventually decided against it. They needed admins to be able to monitor activities remotely, and the upfront cost of setting up a server wasn't worth it for them.
The whole thing is hosted on AWS, with the web server on an EC2 instance, and a postgresQL database serviced by RDS. As it's used internally, a subdomain only accessible to employees was put in place.
Fully Responsive
Pages aren't just squished to work on phones, a mobile first approach ensures a fluid experience on all devices.
Completely Functional
A no-compromise mobile experience. Anything that can be done on desktop can also be done on a smartphone.
A clean, no-bs solution.
They use this system till date, for all library operations from user management to expense reporting. They've gone so far as to let me open-source it!
Their plan is still to host the entire stack locally, so the LMS is built to be ready for that, whenever they decide to make the switch.
They've got a huge collection of books, and the staff is as friendly as ever. Check them out if you happen to be in Pune!
